Walking… Yes… Walking!

We have all heard of the expression…
” Use it or lose it.” I have been around the gym for 48+ years, and it has worked for me so far. Even with working with a personal trainer for part of this time, I am not like I used to be.
As the aging process has started to catch up with me, my default workout is walking. As my goal, I try to get in 10, 000 steps a day, even though I seldom hit that target.
You don’t need a gym membership or equipment to walk. You do need to get a good pair of walking shoes and might have to buy more than one pair to find the best fit. If you can find a walking partner, or group, that is even better. It makes the time go by faster and there is a certain amount of accountability.
You don’t have to walk 10,000 steps, but you do need to walk. My daughter bought me one of the smart tracking devices that lets me know how far I am walking and how many steps I am taking. Your weather might be problematic, but there are options to address that as well. When it is boiling hot or raining (California used to have rain), we drive to a local mall to walk.
We only get one body, and it is incumbent on us to take care of it.
“My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the heck she is.” ― Ellen DeGeneres
