With my husband, brad, before his cancer journey

My Weight-Loss Story

My name is Wendy, and I'm so glad you're here.

Throughout my life, I had always maintained a slender figure, but unhealthy eating habits gradually crept into my routine. Over the years, various factors contributed to my weight gain. As an emotional eater, I often turned to food for comfort, which was further compounded by thyroid issues and the relentless demands of a busy career. I found myself settling into a new normal of being a few sizes bigger.

However, everything changed in 2023 when my husband was diagnosed with cancer. This devastating news became a pivotal moment for me. The gravity of the situation forced me to confront the reality that I needed to get serious about my health. It was a wake-up call - a stark reminder that I had to prioritize my well-being not only to support my husband, but also to ensure I could be there for my children.

With newfound determination, I embarked on a journey to transform my lifestyle, focusing on better nutrition and overall well-being. I came to understand the saying "you are what you eat" holds profound truth. Clean eating became the cornerstone of my diet as whole foods provide essential nutrients and energy without the negative effects of processed ingredients. Embracing my Type-A personality, I became vigilant about my nutritional choices. Whole foods, yes; processed foods, no. My new mantra became, "If it's in a bag, a box, or a can, I don't eat it."

I devised my own bespoke weight-loss plan and achieved remarkable results - losing 32 pounds in just 12 weeks - without relying on pills, diet apps, or exercise. This success inspired me to create this blog, sharing my journey and the tips that worked for me. But I also care deeply about your stories. Real Talk Weight is a community that celebrates weight-loss journeys from all over the country.
